I smoked a drive today, and I'm trying to recover my Quickbooks file from it, the file ends with QBB, and I'm trying to figure out the recovery tools of WinHex, there is a file recover, but I'm not sure how to fill in the File Header part of it, none of the choices have the file extension I am looking for, QBB. How do I figure out what the file header in the Recovery window should be?

Open a few existing Quickbook files in WinHex and look at the hex values at the beginning, or at the ASCII characters at the beginning. Hopefully there is some characteristic signature that appears in all Quickbook files at the same offset. That's the header to specify (in hexadecimal).

For exercise, you could first do the same for .jpg files for instance, where WinHex already offers valid headers, so you could verify your findings.

Remember, if that was a FAT-formatted drive, WinHex also offers another recovery method that does not need you to know a header.

What would this other recovery method be?

All I have left of my company data is a .qbb file that WILL NOT restore. The backup was reported as "successful" by QB when it was created. The .qbw file would not copy (via windows explorer or check-it fast move) which is why I wanted to restore from the .qbb. The .qbw file was deleted when attempting to restore, and it is unrecoverable. Is there any way to repair the .qbb file?

You open a company and pick from .qbb files, not restore from them.

qbb files are compressed, qbw files are not.
