Your professional opinion please..... I use WinHex for my personal PC at home. In no way would I be using it for anything fancy such as forensics. It's my protection against myself That being said, what should I do PROACTIVELY to ensure the greatest likelihood of recovery should I 'accidentally' delete files. Should I be doing a backup, create image, volume snapshot, etc.?? I'm not technical at all (and don't care to be)...I just want to be sure that I am doing the right thing to increase chances of recovery (time is not a big issue). I would rather take the time now than pay the price later. Many thanks |

Well, the simplest solution: Buy several USB-sticks, copy all important files (may be installation files and the serial numbers too) to one of these sticks and after this give it to a safe. Some days later do the same with the next stick. After a while you can use the first stick again. I suppose this is easier than explaining to you how to use Winhex, making backups ... |

Acronis True Image. Schedule daily incremental backup to external harddisk. It works silently in the background. When, after a month or two, the disk is full, erase all backup files except the first. That's all it takes to allways be safe. If disaster srikes, it will take, depending on the size of your harddisk and number of files, from ½ to 2 hours to get everything back, the way it was, incl. system files, programs, all your data and desktop. And forget about re-installing programs and installation kode. It is easy to use and has saved my sorry a.. severel times. |
