I've got an old Olympus C-3030 that uses SmartMedia cards. In this case I was using a 128Mb card. I use my networked HP printer as a card reader, since it's one of the few devices that has a Smart Media slot. I usually copy them off the card (over the network) onto my laptop before doing any manipulation. In this latest case, I forgot. When viewing images on the card using Windows XP, I hit the 'rotate' button to flip the native landscape format to portrait format in a few instances. I don't remember resaving the files, but apparently Windows does that automatically ... now I appear to have data overwritten onto the same file, which produces a completely garbled image. Can anyone think of a way to 'undo' the damage? Many thanks. |
