Error #6 means that an error occurred while reading sectors from the card. The card may be physically damaged. You could try enabling the option "Ignore read errors" in File Recovery by Type, but for physically damaged media I recommend contacting a data recovery service rather than a do-it-yourself tool if the files are precious.

Another indicator that Davory cannot correctly read the card (in this case, detect its size correctly), sorry.

Is there anyway that I can recover the files?

I cannot tell from remote. If Davory is unable to deal with this card, I recommend contacting a data recovery service. See Knowledge Base for a link to some addresses.

I have deleted some pictures on a Canon Powershot G2 Media card. Does anybody has some experiences how it is possible to recover and get the picture back on the media card ?

Thanks

I probably works as with any other camera card. If you can access it as a logical drive or physical disk from within WinHex or Davory (you may need a card reader), your chances for recovery are good.

Help, I received a new smart card two weeks before Christmas and began using it ... now..after Christmas I tried to view my photos and the reader (Dazzle 6 way reader) won't read it...I get the message disk not formatted...
I returned the smart cart to my camera...Fuji FinePix 600Z and now I can't use the disk at all..I get the message disk not initialized...I can't see any photos in the playback mode now can I make new photos...same message disk not initialized. All my Christmas photos are on the smart card and I don't want to loose them... Please...Is there a way to retrieve the photos . If so, I need step by step instructions...I'm pretty new at the digital camera thing.
Thank you very much.

Hopefully, Davory will allow you to open the card as a "physical disk". That way you will be able to perform a "File Recovery by Type" on the card. Otherwise the software will be unable to help you, unfortunately, so please rather refer to a specialized data recovery service like Ontrack, Ibas, ESS, ActionFront, etc.

My problem:
I erased my 128 Mb smart media card with 80 (on 100) very important pictures in it.

Immediately, I have tried to use WinHex to restore these files, but with "restore file by name" I have no success (it says "0 headers found, 0 files restored"). So I tried "restore file by type", but same thing. I used jpeg/exif settings and 2 Mb max file size and what you suggested on the forum.

With File Rescue or File Revival I can see that all the files are on the smart media, their condition of recovery is "good", exept for the fact that the first character of the filename is erased.

Can you please help me?

Thank you very much
Lorenzo

It seems you did not try "File Recovery by Name", as the message "0 headers found, 0 files restored" can only be the result of "File Recovery by Type". Please try again. You may also want to run Davory instead, which is easier to use.

I used Davory, but - with "file recovery by name" - it tells me "0 files recovered" (using "logical drive" settings).
With the same procedure in WinHex, I get "invalid user.txt".

When I recovered the pictures from my smart media card, I got the right number of file (~90), with the right dimension (~1.2 Mb), but - when I try to open them with ACDSee - I can't see anything. I think that only the header of each picture is corrupted. So I think that the key is restore the header.
However, I made multiple backups of the restored corrupted file on my hard disk and CD-RW.

What should I do?
Thank you
Lorenzo

Please contact a data recovery service. And if you wish to continue to use WinHex, please contact me by e-mail and include your full name and license details.

Hello Winhex;

I have a FujiFilm Fine Pix Viewer 4800 Zoom Digital Camera, on New Years I was doing a promotion and took 100 pictures, the next day to my horror all the pictures were gone, perhaps I in advertently erased them and now I have a client expecting all the pictures I did of the promotion and I'm in big trouble financially if I don't somehow retrieve these pictures. I was searching the net and found out that your company specializes in these matters. I hope you can help me, if so please try as much as possible to explain things how I may recover the pictures in laymens terms as I am not to experienced in techincal language.

ANXIOUSLY AWAITING YOUR REPLY

Best Regards
Sami Khair

I recommend you download and try Davory. If you can open the camera card as either a logical drive or physical disk (you may need a card reader for this), Davory will hopefully still be able to find the pictures. The evaluation version will recover files up to 200 KB.

Please HELP,

I took pictures of my 5 year olds graduation last night and went on our gateway this morning to put the photos on a CD. For some reason my mother went to My Computer and found the SD file and when she clicked on it, it asked if she wanted to format and she said yes. Now the pictures are GONE. Is there anything I can do to recover these pictures? These pictures mean so much! Please HELP

Thank you!

Danielle

I understand an SD card was accidentally formatted. You could try whether the evaluation version of Davory can still find the pictures on the SD card.

Put your memory card in a card reader attached to a PC. If you still can't see your pictures, you can try the evaluation version of Davory (http://www.x-ways.net/davory) on that memory card. If that's still unsuccessful, there are professional data recovery firms that you could try next.
