Hi,

I have a damaged Smart Media card with my photos from hollidays from last week. I read in this forum, but my problem I can't found.
I didn't know, how the photos can be recovered, and I was running Windows ScanDisk. It found some errors in FAT table and repair them, but on the card is nothing, from 128MB card is 32MB and recovery programs didn't find any images. WinHEX says permanently errors. Is any way to get my images back ? Is any way to undo action in Scandisk ?

Thank you for your support !

If WinHex cannot read your card either as a logical drive or physical media, sorry, I am at a loss. All I can recommend is contacting a data recovery company such as Ibas, Ontrack, Vogon, etc.

Thank you,

I was format the card in my digital camera (Olympus C720), and WinHex can read it. On the card are data - one photo (actually after formating card) and many more data without headers. Is possible, that these data on the card are my photos ? But I can't found next any headers... Can program "Davory" read from card photos without headers too ? I read that after formating the card data aren't lost (?).

I'm from Czech Republic, so for me is impossible service like data recovery company, in our republic isn't something like that.

Thank your for your answer !!!

The picture data, maybe, yes.

No, the file header is crucial. Without it a picture cannot be opened by any photo viewing software either.

So,

without headers I cannot get my photos, isn't it ?
And services for recovery data, about you wrote, are possible to recovery images without headers, or there is no more chance ?

1) Yes.
2) Maybe manually, with a full knowledge of the file format(s), one could still reconstruct the pictures.

And do you know any website about JPEG file format ? I will test self-reconstructing action before use the expansive service (if I will understand it :) ).

Thank you for your advice !

Click "Knowledge Base" in the left frame of this forum for a JPEG file format documentation.

Please try running Davory on the card. Hopefully Davory access it. If you have questions on using Davory, please ask again here.

Yes, there is a chance for recovery. Don't use this card for new photos in the meantime. You can try Davory on that card.
