I took some really important pictures at a concert but the card began to read, "Format Error" I haven't reformatted the card yet. I tried to use programs provided by http://www.winhex.com/davory and http://www.flashcardfix.com. The first program didn't work at all (An error occurred while accessing Drive F) and the second program provided me with 6 images that were all cut off... you could only see the very top of these photos... (and I took a lot more than 6 pictures!)

Is it possible that the photos are still on my memory stick? What can I do to retrieve them? Somebody please let me know what my next step should be. Thank you so much in advance.

These photos are very important to me.

Please try Davory again and open the card as a physical medium this time. Then use "File Recovery by Type".

Okay, thank you... I ran the program again and now it is showing the top halves of seven photos ... does this mean that they are on here? Because on another program I could only retrieve six top halves and they were different... At 25% it gave me an error that said, "The semaphore timeout period has expired." What does this mean? Then it said, "An error occurred while reading from Sector 63415 of Removable Medium 1. When I tried to reread the sectors -- it told me that the device is not ready. What do you suggest I do now? Thanks, in advance, for your help.

To me it seems the card is physically damaged. I recommend you contact a data recovery company with a specialized hardware laboratory, such as Ontrack, Ibas, Vogon, Convar, ActionFront, etc.

I had the same problem as Amber and all of my photos showed up but the top half only showed and the bottom half was grey. What do I do now?!

Only the full version of Davory can recover photos at an arbitrary size larger than 200 KB. The evaluation version cuts them at 200 KB at max when using the recovery method "by type". This is why only the upper part of the picture is visible.
