Hi Stefan,

Regarding the 9.95 beta...

I was thinking about telling you to implement a file-comparison util a few days back(Really!), since it would be very useful to me & everyone else, but then I was so busy with my projects...

But, checking your page today, I noticed that you did have one, but NOT the one I imagined! Here a couple of enhancements that WinHex could need, well here it is...

When comparing files, you could resize the open files (that are being compared) horizontally (not vertically, since you wouldn't be able to see the hex & text at the same time.

Next enhancement, in addition to the comparison report, you could highlight the differences in yellow or red in those files. Actually, this technique is used by Visual SlickEdit, a dev editor. You could also open another window, showing the list of differences, which can be clicked on to go to the differing point in the file. Its really, really useful and is worth paying for seperately! I seriously would! But, could you please TRY implementing it!

What do you think about it?

Chris, what you describe is implemented already. Try View | Synchronize & Compare.

I will save your other suggestion (clickable list of differences) for future reference.

Cool! Sync'd window scrolling... & more...

However, could you change the default color from black to red or yellow or atleast let users change it. (Makes it easier to locate) Since the selections are small. (You gotta remember some of us like high res screens)

Currently different bytes are not displayed in a certain color, but as a negative image of the original display. The resulting inverse colors should be quite catchy already. Yet I will save your suggestion for possible future implementation, of course, thanks.

Do you have a todo list of possible future enhancements, etc somewhere? If not, could you make one & let us vote on it? So then, it would be easier for you to decide which features are more important to develop first...

I have such a list, and it is very long. (It's not published anywhere.) Aside from developing new features, existing features often still leave room for further improvement. Your votes are appreciated in the online survey. (See the link in the left frame.)

In 9.92 SR-3, under Window->Synchronize & Compare...

Could you make a third window, which has both the similarities & differences merged. So both the files similarities could be displayed in an inverted color, while the differences stay the same.

I cannot imagine a window that shows both the similarities and differences merged.

Hi, I'd like to know if is there a way i can sync two files using WinHex, cause I actually only can get a huuuuge file with diffs, but can't get copy the data of one file to the 00 in the other, and viceversa. or please tell me how to use that file, or if there's a way to make a sync automatically, not by hand with the "View & Compare" command. Thanks a lot.
