I do not know if such a tool already exists, but it would be very helpful: an USB dongle with an included (small) hard drive (USB stick). The reason for this: Older machines and laptops often have less USB ports - and they are at the backside. When making a backup from a running system with X-Ways Forensics you need three USB ports for creating a backup from the running system: One for the dongle, one for the software and one for the target drive. If the dongle had an included small "hard drive" it would be possible to start X-Ways-Forensics from ONE USB-port. The second one would be free for a larger target HD. It would be also possible to add some other software on the "USB-HD part" of the dongle, e.g. X-Ways Capture. Could you ask the dongle company if this is possible? Thank you. |

You could use a USB hub to circumvent these problems. |

Of course I can do this. But: This idea was a proposal for the future - means: a) telling the producers of the dongle that adding an USB stick would be a good idea, b) if it should come out some day XWF should offer this possibility for new customers to stay an innovative company. |
