Using the X-Ways Trace Utility, I can't seem to be able to open the Recycle folder in Windows 98SE. It just doesn't see that directory at all. I have the same problem in WinHex. Yet I can view the folder easily in Windows Explorer, and even access its contents. I find nothing to help in the instructions.
Any suggestions as to what I may be missing?
I would like to view the contents of the INFO2 file in that folder, but I can't even view the folder.

Unfortunately, in this case it is necessary to type in "recycled\info2" or "recycler\info2" after "File name" in the "Open Files" dialog window.

In Windows Explorer you can access the virtual contents of the recycle bin, but not the actual files in the directory "recycled" or "recycler".

By doing that I can see a file that I have deleted to the recycle bin, but still not the INFO2 file. Your program states that the INFO2 file is not found.
This seems awfully difficult and awkward for a commercial release.

In that case, for some reason there is no info2 file in there.

At the moment I have to recommend using Windows 2000 or XP and opening the recycle bin folder with File | Open Folder.

The INFO2 file is there and I can see it with Explorer and a couple of disk editors, but not with Trace and not with WinHex.
Are you saying the program will not work properly on Windows 98SE?

If the info2 file is there, it should also be possible to open it with X-Ways Trace at any rate if you type in the filename and path.

I'm confirming that the recycle bin folder is not visible in the Open File dialog and the Open Folder dialog window under Windows 98. Until this problem is solved, I have to recommend using X-Ways Trace under Windows 2000/XP.

You should be able to see and open the info2 file directly in WinHex when using the built-in directory browser.

Are you saying you can see the info2 file with the Windows Explorer? Then just drag & drop it to X-Ways Trace.

I have added instructions for the Open Folder command to the program help (File menu):

The recycle bin folder may not be visible under Windows 95/98/Me. In that case select the root directory and have X-Ways Trace search for "info2" files in subfolders.
