First I must say to Stefan & Co.: THANK YOU for all the GREAT SOFTWARE and interaction with us!!!! Now for the trivial nasties: I know this appears to be a small matter, but even the smallest change in Replica (or any forensic software) should be reflected in the version number (e.g. 1.3 to 1.31) for at least two reasons: 1. I am sure that I am not the only one that must log details of the work being done and the tools being used, and others should be able to repeat the work and see the EXACT same results logged (not just final output but also screen messages), there should be no doubts raised, there should be no inconsistencies to invalidate the work (however minor you and I know them to be). If I swear that version 1.3 was used, I can not have someone ask "which one?" or have anyone raise doubts or distractions by asking for an explanation for their different output or screen messages. 2: Without the version number variation, I am not sure if I have the latest. I was already aware of a second 1.3 via the forum (and had downloaded it, [changed 2048 to 2047]), but I now have the E-mail notice that announces slight changes and I am usure if this is a third version of 1.3? Sorry to hassle over this. Again, thank you very much for all you have done, you could easily charge more and get it. |

On January 15, 2004 the image file segment size suggested by X-Ways Replica for FAT32 drives has been changed from 2,048 to 2,047 MB. This was a one-time change, comparable to fixing a typo, without a change of version number. No result output has changed. > now have the E-mail notice that announces > slight changes and I am usure if this is a > third version of 1.3? This was the first and only notice of X-Ways Replica 1.3 in the WinHex newsletter, about the new features in v1.3 you probably were already aware of because of reading forum postings. Nothing different than what is described in the version history. |
