Hello Stefan. New user. I have been experimenting with looking at files in Winhex and trying to figure out their structure. I noted in a setup file (.exe) that when I double click on it and examine the sectors, there is a lot of stuff having to do with my computer, not with the file. For example, if I search for text with "clarke" there is all sorts of references to my programs, email addresses, etc. So I must be seeing something more than just the file itself. Can you direct me to where I might look to figure this out? Thanks. John |

Doubl-clicking (latest version: single-clicking) a file in the directory browser navigates the Sectors view to beginning of that file on the disk. However, the Sectors view still shows the entire disk, no exclusively the file. If you wish to look at a file exclusively, right-click it and open it. |

Yes, that works fine. I finally realized I was looking at the whole disk unless I *opened* it. I could also use position and go to beginning of file.Thanks. John |
