In the logical disk dump I found an interesting string and would like to know in which file it is. Is this possible and how?

Unless you interrupted the cluster scan, the details panel should show you the current cluster usage in the section "Allocation of visible drive space". For reference of WinHex's UI components, see http://www.x-ways.net/winhex/user-interface.html .
