I have specialist ver. 13.SR8 I seem to remember that the hits in position manager would show in preview column. But instead I just get unreadable blocks. http://www.datalifter.com/files/winhex_bug.jpg Thanks for checking! |

Please try to disable the Unicode preview option in the Position Manager's context menu after searching. |

Thanks Stefan, but where is that at? |

The Unicode option in the Position Manager's context menu is available, if you open the Position Manager via the "Search Hits" button (the one with the binoculars to the right of the Sync and recursive exploration buttons). This way, X-Ways Forensics will know to display search terms which might or might not be Unicode. |

Jens, Thanks for the reply. Ok now I'm really feeling stupid. I have the Specialist version and you can see by the screen shot I can't find anything related to a context menu for the Position manager that suggests you can change the Hits view to ASCII/Unicode. http://www.datalifter.com/files/winhex_menu.jpg Thanks for working with me. |

(Your screenshot shows the Simultaneous Search dialog window.) The solution is to disable the Unicode preview option in the Position Manager's context menu directly/immediately after searching. The Position Manager's context menu appears when you right-click any item in the Position Manager. |

If you cannot find the Position Manager's context menu, simply initialize the program. Help | Setup | Initialize |

Initialize did the trick! Thank you sir. |
