Whenever you click the offsets, it changes style from hexadecimal to decimal style, or vice versa (it changes the Options -> General -> Hexadecimal offset checkbox).

This is very annoying. Is it possible to disable this clicking behaviour?

No, not possible, and while you may find it very annoying, for others it is a highly efficient way to toggle the offset presentation.

I find it very helpful. It also melds quite nicely with navigating from the Position menu. (My sense is that this feature will remain.)

I've noticed that if you are in decimal offset display and you scroll down past a certain point, the message "Switched to hexadecimal offset presentation" appears, and from that point downwards you can't invoke the decimal offset display. (It occurs just before the decimal numbers would exceed the width of the offset column.) Is there any way to prevent this from occurring, perhaps by increasing the width of the column?

No, there isn't.
