Hi guys,
can anyone tell me please how can i name an example of
FAT12, 16, 32, and 31 clusters in hex???

I know how to name them in binary
like this:

For example:
FAT 12
0101 1110 0011
5 E 3

but i have no idea how to do it in hex...

any help would be helpful

5 E 3 is hexadecimal already. If you meant something different, please clarify.

0101 is binary for the hexadecimal 5.
1110 is binary for the hexadecimal E.
0011 is binary for the hexadecimal 3.

So indeed they are not the same. They are different representations of the same value. Our normal decimal numbers are yet another representation.

Please see the knowledge base (left frame of this forum, 10-step hex editing course) or the WinHex program help ("Using a hex editor") for an introduction into the hexadecimal system.

Sorry, the links in the knowledge base are pages outside our control and as such we cannot guarantee their availability. In this specific case, I am not aware of an equivalent page, I am afraid.

IM in uni I have to use winhex to do the following:-

In the zip file winhex tutorial there are eight files (I have these on my comp).
how do I do this though ....

What type of files are they?
Can you find out the original name of the file?
When were they created / modified?
Can you restore their file extensions and open the files?
