I installed a program some months ago and it made a folder with no name. I cant delete it or rename or move it. It has NO NAME. It just gives me an error whenever I try changing or deleting it telling me that it cant read from the source file or disk. I can save files or folders in this folder as well as delete them but this folder refuses to go away. It is located at the root of drive C: What do I do? |

Depends on the file system. Removing the directory manually with WinHex requires knowledge of the file system's data structures. |

I'm having the same problem. a folder was created in my FTP root with no name. Now I can't delete it. I'm running windows 2003 and the drive is NTFS. I can rename the FTPRoot folder, and have done so (to xxdeleteme), but i can't delete that folder because every time I try I get an error sayin it's not empty. any help would be greately appreciated. |

Hi, I had the same problem for a few weeks and I have only just managed to sort it. It started when I installed the software for my new mobile phone. it worked fine on my user account, but generated an unnamed folder on everyone elses desktop. It appeares to be a glitch in the regestry, but im not really a computer buff! Deleted the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SOFTWARE - MICROSOFT - WINDOWS - CURRENT VERSION - EXPLORER - DESKTOP - NAMESPACE (entered a folder with a huge long line of numbers and letters which contained the key "Sony Erricson File manager") The program vanished from my desktop, but is still available in the start menu and the unnamed folders on other uder accounts were gone. Hope this kinda helps! |
