I made a directory. D:\DANE and there was 3 files : Adobe.pdf , obraz.jpg , and Dokument.doc. I have deleted it and instantly I wanted to recover it back. I can see in directory browser directory DANE (it is at the end marked as deleted directory) and when I try to recover it (right click and Recover/copy...) I can recover only empty DANE directory. I was trying also to recover files by tools-->disc tools-->Recover file by name, but it also does nothing! My question is. Why it is like that if instantly after delete I am trying to recover it and there are no other data operation on this partition so data must be somewhere ? How to recover directory with files , when I try to enter there it is empty...And other methods are also not effective in this case which suppose to be v.simple. I kindly ask for replay.

I would like to add that I use Windows XP and I did turned off the system backup option. I suspect that becouse of some reason this data was not deleted . I empty thr recidlent bin on all partitions.

Usually there is no such problem. What you observe may happen on FAT32 when deleting the directory without the detour to the recycle bin. Then the 32-bit cluster number is not fully available for that directory any more. In such a case, however, the thorough file system data structure search will still find the directory and its contents.

Stefan,

I dit the thing again... It does that I can recover/copy... directory with no files. Also no files was found in other methods of search. I did the same thing with oter files, I mean I have deleted whole directory with files and the same situation happend - I couldnt get the files - only directory(inside there is path unknown)! And non search methods can help... My question is:
1. Do you know what is going on?
2. Is it maybe beacuse the first letter is missing and thats why I can`t find the file(s)?

Thanks a lot!

Stefan!

I know what was the reason! The reason was that I had installed Nortos System Works and after I have remove it everything works normally! :-)

Best regards,
