WH 14.8 SR-1

Since this may have already ben reported, I will withhold the lengthy details until/unless needed.

The following has been tested multiple times and with variations:

I have attached an external PST (confirmed to be good and contents can be seen in Preview mode and in Outlook) ...
next, I have tried to perform a Refined Volume Snapshot - Extract e-mail (& embed attachments)

The process ends with a message like the following:

No e-mail found: 296889 --> added to report table
Message of the kind ...
C:\WinHex\case name\_MetadataDrive.e01,Partition 1\296889 cannot create file "C:\WinHex\case name\_MetadataDrive.e01,Partition 1\296889\Mail.tab". The system cannot find the path specified.

I then checked the path and found a folder named "296889.dir" (not 296889) and it does contain some, but not all, of the emails.

I am guessing the problem is that WinHex may be trying to create a file called "Mail.tab" in a directory called "296889", which does not exist; When WinHex, perhaps should be trying to create "Mail.tab" in "296889.dir", which does exist and contains other email content from this PST. Or WinHex, perhaps, should not be trying to create a file called "mail.tab" at all?

I can repeat this in the same case for other external PSTs, I have not yet taken time to try in another case.

Thank you,

Ross@WinPro.net

I confirm one cannot currently extract e-mail messages from archives that have been manually attached to a volume snapshot. Will probably be fixed.
