I opened the RAM of a process and tried to search for a string. I then got Error #2 Cannot read "Entire memory". I get the same thing if I only read primary memory. The "waiting bar" stops at 27%.

I should mention that I use Windows XP and I do not (and cannot get) administrator rights on the computer. Though, I have attempted to start WinHex using "run as" and unchecking the "Protect the computer or its data against unauthorised usage".

Regards,

David

Hi,

When scrolling around in the memory area I received the same error message at 2E3B658. The output said PAGEUNREADABLE.

Regards,

David

Well, that can happen if the page allocation in an active process changes. You won't encounter that situation when you search the physical memory.
