I am trying to restore a drive backup I took that was split into mutliple parts (2GB Chunks). I have 150 of these. However I want to restore them to a single raw file (the drive is longer available to reimage to or from).

However, the only way of doing this seems to be to do one file at a time and then cat them all together at the end. This will take forever. Is there a simple way of doing this. Even when I restored to a different, bigger drive I needed to click OK after each chunk, but at least it detected them all. However the final image was corrupted and couldn't be read.

I don't know what a MHX backup is (and I assume you are not referring to a WHX backup because for a simple typo the M is too far away from a W on all keyboard layouts that I know), but if it's just a raw image format, and the segments (you call them chunks) are named as expected by WinHex/X-Ways Forensics (see program help or user manual about the "Interpret Image File As Disk" command) then you can do it with WinHex (specialist license) or X-Ways Forensics like this:

Open File
Select the first segment
Specialist | Interpret Image File As Disk
File | Create Disk Image

Sorry, was a typo in my head. Yes a WHX backup. All the segments are named as they were backed up. I tried with the Interpret Image file as disk and of course it doesn't do that and complains that this can't be done with a backup.

Well, sorry, for WHX backups there is no solution for that. X-Ways Forensics does not even allow to create such files any more since many years, because .e01 evidence files are superior.

Oh! I created this backup 1 week ago with the version I had downloaded that week since I was still waiting for the dongle to turn up.

Is the restore to drive expected to work on these file types as that also seemed to be corrupted after 150 clicks of OK.

Yes, expected to work, but that was maybe 6 years ago when I last tested it.
